Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, or more commonly called KL, is the cultural capital of Malaysia and its largest city. Kuala Lumpur, which simply means "muddy confluence", was established in 1857 when Chinese miners were hired to open new tin mines in the area. That moment marked the beginning of KL's development. Over the years it grew from a tin miner's camp into a commercial centre that was able to attract large numbers of investors from around various places.

Today, Kuala Lumpur is a thriving and bustling city that perfectly combines modernity and old traditions and boasts many attractions keeping visitors occupied for days. From state of the art museums to old and new neighbourhoods, huge green spaces to wander around for hours, modern architectural marvels, temples, mosques and churches, to shopping malls, KL has something for everyone.

Highlights for visitors close to the city include the Batu Caves, Genting Highlands and the new administrative capital city of Putrajaya.
