Kuala Lumpur, or more commonly called KL, is the cultural capital of Malaysia and its largest city.
Kuala Lumpur, which simply means "muddy confluence", was established in 1857 when Chinese miners were hired to open new tin mines in the area. That moment marked the beginning of KL's development. Over the years it grew from a tin miner's camp into a commercial centre that was able to attract large numbers of investors from around various places.
